Reach Psychology has had an enormous impact on our family. Initially, I admit to being somewhat skeptical about working with the whole family (as I didn’t deem the problems we were experiencing, to be mine) but the sessions quickly made both my husband and I realise that we wouldn’t be able to move forward until we acknowledged our individual contributions. The family sessions that we have had, have taught us all that we have both individual problems and family unit problems and more importantly, that they are all intertwined. Working with us (as well as our son) has given us some perspective; we have learnt that our actions and reactions have been as a result of our circumstances but that what we do, decisions we make, how we handle difficult times, impacts on the whole family.
Inviting a psychologist into your lives is a daunting prospect and a decision that isn’t taken lightly. Reach is tremendous and we recommend them most highly. They are easy to engage with, empathetic but with realistic expectations. They are offering us practical solutions to what we felt were insurmountable problems and we feel positive for the future.
The Grigg Family
I have previously liaised with Reach Psychology in relation to the support that Ruth was providing to a 15 year old female. Ruth had been supporting this young female for some time and it was due to the support that Ruth was providing that this female felt able, and comfortable enough, to disclose the abuse she was receiving. This included serious sexual assaults. I have found Ruth to be extremely professional and passionate around the support she offers to the extent that the female has expressed, on several occasions, her desire to receive further support from Ruth. Based on these experiences, I believe Ruth would be excellent at providing support to further families.
